Afternoon tea is provided and children are offered a nutritious, healthy variety of foods i.e. fruit; hommus, cheese & crackers, chicken nuggets; muffins, nachos, spring rolls etc. Menu on display. Breakfast is NOT provided, but please feel free to provide this for your child if you have an early start. They may eat breakfast at NOOSHC until 8am. Common allergens like nut products are excluded from the afternoon tea menu and must not be bought into the centre at any time.
Our Centre Manager (Nominated Supervisor) Jo Newton, has over 30 years’ experience working with children. She is responsible for the day-to-day management of the centre, ensuring that there is an interesting range of activities for all age groups. Our Educational Leader, Dominique Milne (Certified Supervisor/Responsible Person) heads up the program and is assisted by an experienced team of child educators. Their aim is to create a pleasant environment for children to relax after school each day and to provide activities similar to those they would engage in at home. Staff members hold a first aid certificate / asthma /anaphylaxis and child protection training.
Who can attend
All children who attend Newport Public School are entitled to enrol to use the service. Enrolments are essential, even if you are looking for casual days. Bookings are essential so that we can arrange for the centre to be staffed appropriately each day, according to the number of children using the service. Parents must register and enrol their child/ren prior to using the service – this applies to both permanent and casual bookings. There are limited casual positions. Please ring the centre prior to your child attending to ensure that there is a position available.
We aim to create an open, two- way flow of information with families through: Notice boards, Parent communication book, E-mails, Verbal communication, Our suggestion box , Daily Reflections / program etc, Parent surveys, Newsletter – school “Natter”
NSEHC Inc. T/A NOOSHC ( non-profit) Incorporated Association has been operating at Newport Public School since 1994. The running of the centre is overseen by a voluntary parent management committee (Approved Provider)and a paid bookkeeper.
